Johnson Works with Colleagues to Address National Housing Crisis

Washington, DC, Sept. 19, 2007 — Senator Johnson joined his colleagues on the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs to markup three pieces of legislation, including the FHA Modernization Act of 2007. All three pieces of legislation work to ensure that Americans have continued access to stable housing.

HUD awards $566,000 for affordable housing and economic development in rural South Dakota

WASHINGTON, September 10, 2007 – Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson today awarded $566,000 to two rural housing programs in South Dakota to stimulate economic development, create jobs and produce more affordable housing. The funding is part of $16.8 million in grants provided through HUD’s Rural Housing and Economic Development Program nationwide.

Statewide Homeless Count to be Conducted by the South Dakota Housing for the Homeless Consortium

Pierre, September 5, 2007 – The South Dakota Housing for the Homeless Consortium (Consortium) is conducting a one-day survey on September 20, 2007 to count the number of homeless families and individuals throughout South Dakota.
