Johnson Announces Rosebud Sioux Tribe to Receive Housing Grant
Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) announced today that the Sicangu Wicoti Awanyakape, that serves the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, will receive an Indian Housing Block Grant Award of $1,763,152 for activities consistent with the tribes housing plan.
Statewide Homeless Summit Analyzes the Causes of Homelessness
As South Dakota continues to strive to end homelessness in South Dakota, The South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA), is partnering with the South Dakota State Interagency Council and the Statewide Housing for the Homeless Consortium, to host the 3rd Annual Statewide Homeless Summit, which will be held March 4th and 5th, 2008 at Cedar Shores Resort in Oacoma.
Funds Available for Existing Emergency Housing Shelters
Emergency Shelter Grants are available for existing South Dakota emergency housing shelters to improve or expand their facilities. The South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) Board of Commissioners anticipates $342,000 will be available for their Emergency Shelter Grants (ESG) Program in FY’08. Since the ESG Program’s inception 21 years ago, SDHDA has awarded over $5.2 million directly to shelters statewide.
