Pierre, SD – August 26, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — The South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) invites and encourages citizen participation regarding the 2010 Consolidated Housing and Community Development Plan Update, The Citizen Participation Plan and The Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing.

The 2008-2012 Consolidated Housing and Community Development Plan (Plan) details how the state will allocate its housing and community development resources from January 1, 2008, to December 31, 2012. Specifically the Plan describes program specific information for HUD Community Planning and Development Formula Programs, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME), Emergency Shelter Grants Program (ESG) and Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids (HOPWA). In addition, the Update to the Consolidated Plan will also address the stimulus funding that has been allocated through the Housing and Economic Recovery Act and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The stimulus programs being administered by SDHDA include the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program, Tax Credit Assistance Program and the Tax Credit Exchange Program. Annually, the five year Consolidated Plan is reviewed and updated for changes in programs or priorities in funding.

SDHDA invites all citizens, public agencies and other interested parties to review housing, economic development, community development, and homeless needs, review the proposed use of funds, review past program performance, The Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing, and The Citizen Participation Plan.

The public is encouraged to review the plans prior to the public meeting. The plans are available on SDHDA’s website at www.sdhda.org. Copies of the plans may also be obtained without charge from the South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) at PO Box 1237, South Dakota 57501-1237, by calling (605) 773-3181 or (TTY) (605) 773-6107.
