WASHINGTON, DC - December 23, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — The Obama Administration today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is renewing grant funding needed to keep six local homeless assistance programs throughout South Dakota operating. PIERRE, S.D. - December 4, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — A recent homeless count and survey conducted by South Dakota Housing for the Homeless Consortium (SDHHC) indicates that the economy has impacted the number of homeless individuals and families in South Dakota.
The statewide summer count conducted Sept. 24, 2009, indicated a total of 1,734 homeless people, or 308 per 100,000 population, including 470 women, 826 men and 429 children. more »

Pierre, SD - November 9, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — The South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) recently awarded Ms. Julie Clark with their “Friend of Housing” award during their 19th Annual Housing Conference held in Pierre. Ms. Clark received this award due to her tireless efforts in helping hundreds of potential homebuyers by providing each of them with a blueprint of what homeownership truly represents. Clark currently holds the position of Education Director for the Sioux Empire Housing Partnership. Through her work she has given potential homebuyers an understanding to the financial obligations of homeownership such as the meaning of credit score, debt ratios, appraisals, budget development and how it relates to the actual purchase of a home and the closing process. more »

Pierre, SD - August 18, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — The Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 provided an appropriation of funds for emergency assistance for redevelopment of abandoned and foreclosed homes and residential properties. The funding known as Neighborhood Stabilization Program is considered Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and is administered by South Dakota Housing Development Authority. South Dakota is entitled to receive $19.6 million in funding under the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. The NSP Plan is a substantial amendment to South Dakota’s current approved Consolidated Plan and annual action plan and it was approved by US Department of Housing and Urban Development January 2009. more »

WASHINGTON, DC - August 10, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development today announced a commitment to insure a mortgage loan to Fall River Health Services (FRHS) in Hot Springs, South Dakota, to construct a 10-bed addition to the 15-bed replacement hospital currently under construction. The $2.4 million loan to FRHS, a critical access hospital, is made possible through the Federal Housing Administration’s Section 242 Hospital Mortgage Insurance Program. more »
